A (Mon-)Day in the life at Blended One
Morning Routine
The day started off with a refreshing wake-up in the cabins after a good night’s sleep. Some early bird campers, eager to start the day, woke up at 6 AM for a peaceful nature walk. Others slept in until it was officially time to get ready. Once the early birds returned and everyone was awake, the campers took showers and brushed their teeth. After everyone got dressed, we gathered for our morning circle. We shared the quote of the day and encouraged the campers to share their thoughts. Then, we sang our morning song “Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With Me” before heading to the dining hall for breakfast. Pancakes, sausages, apple juice, and fruit were on the menu, and everyone enjoyed the meal.
Daytime Activities
After breakfast, we broke into our cabin groups to take care of some camp chores. Once finished, the campers met their teams for the first time and engaged in team-building activities and icebreakers. This was a great way to bond and make new friends. Lunchtime brought delicious Sloppy Janes and veggies, followed by a relaxing Siesta back in the cabins. Post-Siesta, we completed nurse evaluations and enjoyed some free time at the top field. The campers also had a chance to get snacks from the camp store, La Tienda. Then it was time for the first round of camptivities for the day, including tennis, a challenge hike, river walk, and recreation.
Evening Fun
After an eventful day, we returned to the cabins to get changed for dinner. Bratwursts, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes filled us up. The evening activity was Diversity Bingo, a fun way for the campers to learn more about each other’s backgrounds and identities. The game fostered understanding and camaraderie among the campers. We wrapped up the day with a Goodnight song and headed back to the cabins for lights out, ending a fulfilling and memorable day. Reflecting on the day, it’s clear how much growth and fun the campers experienced in just one day. Each activity helped build a stronger community and deeper connections. How did you enjoy your day?
