A (Tues-)Day in the Life at Blended One: Summer Camp Adventures
Today, our kiddos embarked on an unforgettable journey at Camp Kupugani. The day began early, with the eager campers rising at 7:00 AM for cabin clean-up. After that, they gathered for a community meeting where they heard an inspiring quote and received important announcements. Then, it was time for a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, bagels, and cereal to fuel their exciting day ahead.
Following breakfast, the campers dove into their first module on diversity. This engaging session included activities like the “5 Finger Bio” and “Labels,” fostering understanding and acceptance among our campers. Afterward, they split into groups for morning camptivities. Some painted and made bracelets in arts and crafts, while others went on nature walks or tried their hand at archery. The variety of activities ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Afternoon Fun and Evening Reflections
After a well-deserved lunch break and siesta, the afternoon was packed with more thrilling camptivities. From crate stacking to river walks and lake play, the campers had a blast exploring the great outdoors. Later, they had the chance to visit La Tienda, the camp store, for some treats and souvenirs. After another delicious meal courtesy of Miss Natasha–this time chicken enchiladas, salad, and green beans–the day culminated in a heartwarming “Diversity Show and Tell” session, followed by fun games like the Nukum tournament and 9 Square in the Air.
As the sun set, the campers returned to their cabins for some quiet reflection time. They participated in activities like “Happy Hands” and shared life stories, fostering deeper connections with their cabin mates. With the lights going out at 10:00 pm, the campers drifted off to sleep, their minds filled with the day’s adventures and anticipation for what tomorrow might bring. Looking back on this incredible day, we can’t help but wonder: What lasting memories and friendships did our children forge throughout their day at Camp Kupugani?
