Another Good Day with the Kupugani Girls
Today was an exciting day at camp, filled with activities that kept the kids engaged and happy. The day started early with a mindfulness session for the early birds. It was a peaceful way to begin the day, allowing the children to center themselves before the hustle and bustle kicked in.
The community gathering was a highlight of the morning. The campers shared the “Quote of the Day” by Tyler Cowen: “Real cultural diversity results from the interchange of ideas, products, and influences, not from the insular development of a single national style.” This quote set a thoughtful tone for the day. Breakfast featured delicious bagels, which the kids enjoyed before heading off to their camp chores. These chores, though simple, instilled a sense of duty and camaraderie among the campers.
Building Bonds and Exploring Nature
Team-building activities followed the chores. The campers participated in a “Check In” session, the “5 Finger Bio,” and “Labels” activities. These exercises helped them learn more about each other and build stronger bonds. The morning continued with various “AM Camptivities.” The Hitobito group went on a challenge hike, the Abantu group explored nature, and the Anthropoi group practiced archery. These activities allowed the children to explore their interests and develop new skills.
After the morning activities, the campers reported to the dining hall for lunch, where they enjoyed chicken patties and sweet potato tots. Post-lunch, everyone had a full camp siesta to recharge for the afternoon. The first afternoon camptivity session included options like swimming in the pool, a river walk/float, and playing 9-Square. The second session offered canoeing/paddleboarding, crate stacking, and another mindfulness session. These activities provided a mix of physical exertion and relaxation, catering to different interests.
Evening Festivities
Dinner was a delightful meal of enchiladas, enjoyed by all so much that they sang to Miss Natasha afterwards. The evening activity was a “Diversity Show and Tell,” followed by volleyball and 9-Square. The campers also learned about their cabin activities, “Happy Hands” and “Life Stories,” which promised to be engaging and fun. The day concluded with a goodnight song, and the campers headed back to their cabins.
Today was a day filled with learning, fun, and new experiences. The campers had a chance to bond, explore nature, and develop new skills. Are you excited to hear about tomorrow’s adventures?
