Cabin Sunday at Blended One
Our Cabin Sunday began with a delightful twist on the usual camp routine. Instead of the typical early wake-up call, campers enjoyed a lazy continental breakfast (including donuts!) Cabin groups slowly came to life, with sleepy-eyed children trickling into the dining area–many in their pajamas. However, by 10:05 am, everyone was dressed and ready for our morning circle.
The morning’s quote from Flavia Weedn set the tone for the day: “Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance.” This beautiful sentiment reminded campers of the lasting impact their new friendships could have. After the gathering, the camp buzzed with excitement as everyone posed for group and cabin photos, proudly wearing their Kupugani swag, and displaying their cabin-made flags.
Outdoor Adventures and Creative Expressions
Following the photo session, each cabin embarked on a unique hiking adventure. The campers enjoyed a picnic lunch in various scenic locations around the camp, from the front campfire ring to the Walnut Grove to the Old Schoolhouse. During this time, cabins worked together to create original camp songs and skits. The creativity flowed as they brainstormed lyrics and plotted out their performances.
In the afternoon, cabins chose their own special activities. Some played card games, while others engaged in field games or taught each other how to make friendship bracelets. This time allowed for bonding and resolving any conflicts within the group. Later, the entire camp came together for waterfront activities like mud volleyball, dam jumping, going under the waterfall, and lake play–splashing and laughing in the summer sun.
A Night to Remember
As the day wound down, excitement built for the evening’s main event: the skit and song performances. Cabins showcased their talents, filling the air with laughter and applause. Back in the cabins, the day ended with heartwarming life stories shared in the cabins. As lights went out, campers drifted off to sleep, their minds full of new memories and friendships. The question lingered in the air: What amazing adventures would tomorrow bring at Camp Kupugani?
