Wake-Up and Morning Routine
Today, our campers enjoyed the unique and fun Backwards Day. The day kicked off at 7:00 am with the usual wake-up call and cabin clean-up. By 7:45 am, the Trotters had reported to the dining hall. During the community gathering at 8:00 am, the campers sang the goodnight song, setting the tone for this quirky day. After a hearty dinner of nekcihc and selffaw, the campers were dismissed to complete their camp chores by cabin.
Team Activities and Recess
By 9:45 am, the campers split into teams for a series of engaging activities. They tackled “All Aboard,” set financial goals, and attempted the tarp flip. Counselors emphasized the importance of debriefing after each activity, ensuring campers reflected on their experiences. At 10:45 am, everyone enjoyed an enjoyable recess. Lunchtime rolled around at noon, followed by a series of important announcements. (“Did you say ‘announcement’?”)
Afternoon Adventures
The afternoon siesta provided a perfect break before the excitement of camptivities began. The campers participated in a variety of activities, from biking and swimming in the pool to pickleball and Untalent Show prep. The second round of camptivities included canoeing and paddleboarding, the social justice track, rock climbing, and more pool time. After camptivity two, the campers returned to their cabins to clean up and change before dinner (er, breakfast).
Evening Festivities
After breakfast (pancakes and scrambled eggs), the highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated Untalent Show and dance. The night ended with our morning circle, the song “Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With Me,” and a reflective quote from Sitting Bull. Campers then returned to their cabins, shared life stories, and settled down for the night.
Backwards Day was another memorable and exciting experience for all the campers. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and reflection. Have you ever experienced a day that turned your routine upside down in the best way possible?
