A Saturday in the Life of Blended One: Campers Triumph in the Camper-Counselor Soccer Game!
Today, we had the pleasure of witnessing an action-packed day at our summer camp. The day started early, with the campers waking up around 7 am. Subsequently, campers bustled about, tidying their cabins and preparing for the day ahead. At 8:00 am, everyone gathered for a community meeting, where they were greeted with an inspiring quote by Sonya Renee Taylor about radical self-love.
After a delicious breakfast of cinnamon rolls, the camp came alive with activities in their camper teams. First, they engaged in team-building exercises, including creative games like “No words” and “Voiceless roll-call.” Then, they moved on to their morning camptivities. These ranged from arts and crafts, where campers made bracelets and painted, to exciting outdoor adventures like nature walks and archery. The highlight for one team was a challenge hike, which tested their endurance and teamwork skills.
Afternoon Fun and Evening Excitement
The afternoon was equally thrilling, with a variety of activities on offer. Campers could choose from sand volleyball, pickleball, and even a dance class led by counselor Liv. Water enthusiasts enjoyed swim lessons and canoeing or paddle boarding on the lake. However, the real excitement came with the all-camp soccer match in the second camptivity, where the campers triumphantly defeated the staff team in a dramatic shootout after a closely-contested, spirited, well-played game with great effort and sportsmanship on both sides.
As evening approached, the camp prepared for a special night. After a hearty dinner of roast beef and sweet potatoes, campers got ready for the night’s adventures. They gathered around the fire circle, listening to inspiring stories and participating in rhythm games. The night concluded with cabin night hikes, each taking a different trail–before the entire camp enjoyed a night under the stars under the starry sky. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and bonding. Don’t you wish you could have been there to experience it all?
