Kupugani Olympics! July 2013 Edition
Yesterday we held our camp-wide KUPUGANI OLYMPICS! It was an exciting day as our campers put their athletic skills to the test. The campers were split into two teams – Red Team and Blue Team. They began their warm up by showing off their muscles, team chants and team colors. They even tried to outdo each other by who can shout their chant the loudest! The Olympics began with a three-legged race (yes there were a few wipe outs toward the finish line 🙂 … then off to the potato sack race for more laughs and giggles. The slip and slide was a nice cool off during a sunny warm day. Break was spent buying treats at our beloved La Tienda – “body recharged and ready to go.” Campers mustered up the energy for camp-wide GAGA followed by the messy games of Mud Volleyball and Tug-O-War. Team colors were unrecognizable at this point, as they were covered in mud. They concluded the Olympics with one-by-one Dam Jumping to wash off the mud – ahhhh so refreshing!
After all the game points were tallied….….WE HAD A TIE! “So close, so close,” the campers said to each other and promised a strong come back next year. Campers demonstrated great sportsmanship through high fives and hugs blending their team colors – Red plus Blue makes happy Purple Girls. Great work teams! You rock ladies! Girl Power! See you for next year’s Olympics!
A special treat for the returning campers ended the night with dinner out at a local pizza place. It was a nice special time with our longest term returning campers–including an “original” seven-year camper–spending some quality time with Kevin, Natasha and Mico.
