A full day of “normal” at girls camp
Today was the real beginning of a “normal” schedule, albeit mostly in our cohorts. The day started with the campers waking up at 7:00 AM to shower and brush teeth before morning circle and breakfast. Breakfast today consisted of eggs, plus muffins all the way from England! After breakfast, camp-wide chores ensued, then team groups for about an hour to work on learning the basics of successful team development. After teams, we headed into an AM camptivity in cabin groups: climbing, nature walk, challenge hike, and 9 square in the air. After a lunch of tasty chicken sandwiches, the cabins went to rest at siesta. Then the afternoon activities began, again by cabin group in keeping with our week one COVID protocol. Some of the activities were crate stacking, river walk, archery, rock climbing, and canoeing. The campers took a break for La Tienda, then resumed activities with their cabins. After going back to the cabins to get ready for dinner, they came down to the porch to sing songs while waiting for dinner. After an extremely tasty enchilada dinner, the grateful campers serenaded Miss Natasha (plus assistant Rod) by singing Bang Bang Pedal in recognition of the delicious meal. After dinner, the campers did an activity called Diversity Show and Tell to learn more about their individual cultures. The evening ended with campers playing games for a bit outside and then going to bed. Another great day at girls camp!
