Fabulous Friday!
We started off the day by waking up in the cabins after a good night’s sleep. Everyone was up by 7 to shower, brush their teeth, and get dressed for the day before heading to morning circle. Today, our senior 14/15 year old campers got to run camp for the day! They led our morning circle, camp songs, and took care of all of the announcements throughout the day. For breakfast we had English muffins, bacon, and eggs. After breakfast, we broke into our cabin groups to take care of […]
A Terrific Thursday!
On this Terrific Thursday, all of the campers woke up around 7 and got ready for the day. They headed to morning circle and then enjoyed a breakfast of eggs, oranges, and Natasha’s renowned coffee cake – always a very big hit among the campers. After some camp chores, the campers broke into their teams for team-building activities including lineups, stand ups, and hula-hoop passes. Each of these activities required trust and communication, which helped the campers better connect with their peers. After team time, the campers did a “nature […]
Wonderful Wednesday at Girls Camp!
On this Wonderful Wednesday, our early birds woke up at 6 am for a session of morning 9-square. For breakfast we enjoyed some french toast and turkey sausages. After breakfast we broke off into teams and discussed the importance of using “I” statements rather than “you” statements. We also came up with skits to practice using I statements and The Clean Up (a way to take ownership for our actions and the impact they have on others). After teams we had about an hour of “Free to Learn” time. Free […]

A Fun First Full Day of Girls Camp
We started off the day by waking up in the cabins after a good night’s sleep. Some early bird campers woke up at 6 am for a morning nature walk and others slept in until it was officially time to get ready for the day. Once the early birds returned to their cabins and everyone was awake, they took showers and brushed their teeth. After everyone got dressed, we headed down to our morning circle. There we shared the quote of the day and asked the campers to share their […]
A Great First Day of Girls Camp!
Today we welcomed our wonderful campers through a drive-through check in. They checked in meds, unloaded their luggage, and, of course, got tested for Covid… #PandemicLife. After the girls said goodbye to their families, we took them to their cabins to get settled in. There, they figured out their sleeping arrangements and met their new cabin mates. They spent some time there waiting for everyone to arrive, playing name games and getting familiar with each other. After all of the campers arrived and settled in, we met at Top Field for […]

Terrific Thursday!
We had quite the eventful and Terrific Thursday today! We started off with a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, and fruit salad. After we ate, we took care of some camp chores, and then the teams spent the morning building forts and shelters to protect themselves from the Zombie Apocalypse. Spoiler Alert: the campers all made it. After a tasty lunch of locally-raised beef burgers, chips, and spinach salad, the camp enjoyed Siesta before getting ready to start the Kupu-Olympics! We split the staff and campers up into Team […]

Today was Backwards Day here at ampC inagupuK! The campers showed up to Morning Circle (er…correction, for the Goodnight Song) with their shirts and hats on backwards. They said good evening in the morning and good morning in the evening. They had dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. They even tried talking backwards! (some more successfully than others…). In our teams, we discussed what it means to be aware of our biases as well as the barriers we could break if we were able to acknowledge them, and keep […]
Terrific Tuesday!
On this Terrific Tuesday, the campers woke up at 7 am as usual. They headed down to our morning circle and enjoyed a breakfast of eggs, bagels, and fruit salad. In our teams this morning, we began our unit on social awareness. We did a voiceless roll-call and an activity called “No Words” in order to help campers notice the importance of paying attention to others around them and give them an opportunity to practice their non-verbal communication skills. For lunch we had chicken sandwiches, Doritos (if it’s Nacho Cheese, […]

After breakfast, we had our Morning Circle ending with camp pictures. Today’s lunch was a cabin hike and picnic lunch in different parts of camp. During their lunch time, each cabin worked on a cabin song and skits, performed after dinner. Cabin activities today were cabin choice and not regular camptivities–to help the campers and counselors bond. […]
