Wonderful Wednesday at Camp!
On this Wonderful Wednesday, our early birds woke up at 6 am for a session of sweat and swim. For breakfast we enjoyed some French Toast and turkey sausages. After breakfast, we broke off into teams and discussed the importance of using “I” statements rather than “you” statements. We also came up with skits to practice using I statements and The Clean Up (a way to take ownership for our actions and the impact they have on others). After teams we had about an hour of recess time which our campers used to play volleyball, basketball, 9 square, and hang out with friends on top field. This time is allotted to campers so that they have a chance to enjoy camp without highly structured activities. For lunch, we had pulled pork and mac and cheese. After the delicious meal, the campers headed to Siesta. Two camptivities later, with a snack from La Tienda in between, the campers were ready to eat dinner. After the dinner of sweet and sour chicken with rice and veggies, the campers headed out to our second campfire of the session where our counselors taught “The Color Story,” an important lesson on labels. Our campers then settled down in the cabin for a lovely night of sleep. What a great way to end day 4!
