Camp Kupugani Blog
Fun, Fun, Friday!
Today was full of fun between a session of Free to Learn, Camptivities, and an evening of Blob Tag, Sand Volleyball and 9 Square in the Air! The boys definitely keep us going! Tomorrow is the infamous counselor vs. camper All Camp Soccer Game…. WHO WILL WIN?!?!?!?!
Rainbow Tag Fun
What has six colors, hides in bushes, and takes 40 campers to find? Rainbow tag, that’s what! Tonight’s activity involved a whole lot of running and a whole lot of color! Safe to say the game was a hit with the boys. Gaga also proved to be popular, with a rousing game taking place during camptivity one. Many of our campers also chose to take part in lake play – dam jumping and playing in the waterfall make the best summer days we at Kupugani say! Tomorrow, our seniors will […]
Capture the Flag Fun!
Another bright and sunny dawned at Kupugani, where the campers enjoyed a fun-filled day with camptivities like lake play, river walking, challenge hikes, and archery! In the evening, we had our much-anticipated game of capture the flag. Although the staff worked hard to tire the campers out, it was 8 rounds later before we finished! We’re sure everyone will sleep soundly tonight!
Camptivities Create a Splash
Today marked the start of our camptivities! We introduced some new things this session, with camp counselor Callum from New Zealand teaching the boys to play touch rugby. The campers also beat the heat with paddle boarding, canoeing, and pool sessions! The inaugural crate stacking session also took place, with a record of 16 crates being stacked today. Who will rise to the challenge and stack higher than that over the next two weeks?
Let’s Hear It for the Boys!
What a great start to boys session! Our campers woke up today in high spirits, with a record 17 campers up bright and early to participate in our early bird activity for the day – sweat and swim! In the afternoon, our returning campers went for a pool party, whilst our new boys attended a tour of the camp to see all the activities on offer this summer. Of course, there was time for everyone to swim once the tour was done! For our evening activity we had our cultural […]
First Day of Boys Camp!
Yesterday marked the end of our girls’ sessions for the summer and today, we transition into boys camp! We are especially excited for boys camp this summer as our boys’ enrollment has increased over 40%!!! WOOHOO! The 2015 season also heralds the future onset of a blended camp (plus continued boys-only and girls-only sessions) in the 2016 season. Today, they enjoyed big group games such as Ship Island, Running with the Bulls, and RoShamBo Evolution before their welcoming campfire! As the boys sleep tonight, the excitement only builds for the […]
Kupugani Olympics
Today we held our Kupugani Olympics. From Bucket Head to Toilet Mummy and Whip Cream Pie Races to the Balloon Coloring Game, everyone had a blast! It’s always exciting to see each team cheering one another on and really supporting each other.
Untalent Show and Dance Fun!
We enjoyed the Untalent Show and Camp Dance earlier this evening, with all the girls shaking it on the dance floor after watching and supporting an unprecedented 20+ acts during the Untalent Show! Looking forward to the Olympics tomorrow!
Another Fun Busy Day at Kupugani
Activities Camp today was buzzing with busy activities. From Rock Climbing to 9 Square in the Air, Pool to Archery, Fishing to Lake Play, Cooking with Tash to Biking—it was awesome!! Our older campers returned from their overnight trips to Lake Louise and the Top Campfire Ring just in time to take part in the Turtle Pond Campfire with S’mores!
Kupugani’s Amazing Race
Today, Kupugani’s version of “the Amazing Race” was simply that, amazing. Everyone raced around camp playing games and performing different tasks either together as a team or by a single designated representative. From Kerplunk, Jenga, and puzzles to swimming down to the bottom of the pool and across the lake, everyone really enjoyed playing and did a great job!
A Fun Cabin Sunday
A fun Cabin Day began with a relaxing sleep in by cabin, then a lazy breakfast followed by cabin and all camp pics before the girls embarked on cabin hikes and picnic lunches while preparing cabin skits and songs, which they performed later after also participating in individualized activities by cabin choice. Tonight, we enjoyed some relaxing time as a community watching Frozen under the stars. Not only does it have catchy songs and a heartwarming tale, Frozen teaches us that family is important, to be unapologetically oneself, to share […]
Big Win for the Campers at Kupugani!
Yesterday was another fun-filled day at camp! In morning teams, the girls continued to build their sense of bonding with one another with exciting trust-building activities. Afterward, campers broke out into their morning camptivities for canoeing, stomp rockets, pool, and frolfing. For lunch, we had Natasha’s delicious tuna melts to store up our energy for the camp-wide soccer game! After the campers made a decisive 2-1 win (and ending the counselors’ multiple-year undefeated streak), we were all rewarded with delicious tacos for dinner and a comforting campfire during the evening.
