Four Ways to Help Your Kids Find Their Calling in Life
At Camp Kupugani, our Midwest summer camp, we recognize that each camper has something they want to become. We want to help our campers shine and find their calling not only while at camp but also at home, school, and in their individual futures. A recent article from Barking Up the Wrong Tree highlights some ways to help your kids find their calling in life. Read our summary below and check out the full article here.
- Fan the Flames
- Expose your children to new things.
- Take note of the new things they enjoy (or don’t enjoy).
- Use current events to engage them in conversation.
- Convey the Meaning You Get From Your Work
- Show them your job is enjoyable (even if it isn’t).
- Talk about the purpose and the meaning behind your job.
- Introduce Them to Mentors
- Once they know what they like, find people to mentor them in that area.
- If you have the expertise, you can be that person.
- Encourage an Entrepreneurial Attitude
- Challenge kids to take healthy risks.
- Allow your child(ren) to be the leader.
- This empowers children to become “self-starters”.
