Kupugani Diary Cabin Day: July 31st
Donuts and a later than normal morning circle after a night under the stars was perfect for the Kupu-campers this Sunday. I’m pretty sure I heard snoring 15 minutes into “The Lego Movie” last night. The morning was a little slow, but picked up very fast once the kids got into their songs and skits with their cabin. Several of them came running back eager to start the activity that their cabin agreed on. Since some campers chose the same activities, they were able to play games together which gave me some great photo opportunities! After a much needed La Tienda (eh eh eh) break, the kids got their swimmers on and headed down to do mud volleyball, dam jumping, canoeing, and dam jumping. The water was so refreshing that it was hard for the counselors and me to get the kids out! 30 minutes later, we reunited in the dining hall for DELICIOUS MIMMO’S PIZZA. There was an almost continuous line for seconds, thirds, fourths… and so on. Tummies full and energy levels high, we headed to the rec hall for the song and skit performances. It’s always funny to hear what song the kids base their Kupugani song on since they haven’t heard music in a while. Cabin Sultana based their song on “Baby Got Back” (I’m 95% sure they don’t know the actual song), and Cabin Walker based their song on “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie. The two oldest cabins had a Queen moment with Cabin Addams basing their song on “Another One Bites the Dust” and Menchu singing their rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The boys, the counselors, admin, and I all had a good laugh with the performances. We ended the night relatively early at 8 with the goodnight song and used the rest of the night for more precious cabin time.
