Olympics with the Girls!
Today was Kupu-Olympics Day! Our campers started the day off by enjoying delicious cinnamon rolls, eggs, and fruit for breakfast. During teams they all worked together to flip a tarp they were all standing on as well as cross an imaginary acid river using only a few floating rafts. For lunch the campers had hamburgers and salad to fuel up in preparation for the day’s main events, the Kupu-Olympics. The campers had a great time doing a variety of activities that were judged in 4 categories: Spunk, ‘Spect, Spirit, and Sportsmanship. Each team came up with a team chant and did their face paint. Half the camp was on the red team and half the camp was on blue. The first activity was all camp gaga. After the game, the campers participated in a “T-Shirt” pass where the red team took a slight lead. That was followed by fun on our gargantuan slip-n-slide. After a quick LaTienda break, the campers broke into the next set of activities: mud tug of war and some fun in the lake! After a bit of dam jumping to wash off the mud, the returning campers received some poems and swag at the returner’s ceremony and headed off to the park for a pizza party. Our newer campers had an awesome meal of chicken with a few samosas on the side. The evening ended in a spirited game of Rainbow Tag and, as always, with the goodnight song. Another great Kupu-day!
