A Terrific Tuesday
On this Terrific Tuesday, the campers woke up at 7 am as usual. They headed down to our morning circle and enjoyed a breakfast of eggs and bacon. We spent a little extra time in our teams this morning because we had a lot to go over. First, we discussed the difference between gender, sex, and sexual orientation. Then we had them draw self portraits, including some things that make them unique, (their hobbies, favorite foods, etc.). After that, we did trust building exercises including trust-leans, Willow in the Wind, and the Yurt Circle. It was cool to watch the campers become more comfortable and trusting with each other as they progressed through the different activities. For lunch we ate hot dogs, apples, and sun chips. After siesta, given the impending heat index, we swapped the previously-scheduled first camptivity and had a pool party instead! It was a big hit. After the pool party, we had snack time at La Tienda, and then went on to our second camptivity. After a taco dinner, we split the campers up based on their ages. Those who were 13 and over did an activity called Star Power, which is a simulation designed to demonstrate the injustices that coincide with abuse of power. Those who were under 13 played games in the top field. Overall, it was another awesome day!
