Too Much Fun to Blog About
Hello! With apologies to any parents who have been scanning, waiting, and hoping with bated (sp?) breath for an in-camp blog, at long last, here’s one!
The girls have been getting acquainted with new friends and re-connecting with old ones during these first few days.
From day one, our campers had a smooth and seamless beginning to camp. From our opening pot luck to camper check in, big group games like Ship Island and Running with the Bulls, and opening campfire, the day was a great one.
The meals throughout have been great (as usual), with highlights so far being fried rice and sweet and sour chicken for yesterday’s dinner, Phil’s Farm Fresh Eggs for breakfast along with toast from France (french toast), and scrumptious sandwiches for lunch.
Monday was a successful first full day of camp, with initial team gatherings in the morning, followed by a camp tour and swim evaluations to learn who can safely swim in the deep end of the pool. The rains held off and/or timed themselves so that we could engage outside as much as we needed to.
Tuesday and Wednesday marked full days of camptivities and team activities, plus campfires, games, and cabin time in the evenings. All of the Kupugani fun helping the girls to engender trust and confidence within the group and themselves as individuals. Even given a few episodes of homesickness (a normal thing) over the first couple of days, the girls are gaining confidence and continuing to build a sense of empowerment.
