The First Fun Full Day of Camp
We started off the day by waking up in the cabins after a good night’s sleep. Some early bird campers woke up at 6 am for a morning mindfulness/yoga session, and others slept in until it was officially time to get ready for the day. Once the early birds returned to their cabins and everyone was awake, they took showers and brushed their teeth. After everyone got dressed, we headed down to our morning circle. There we shared the quote of the day and asked the campers to share their thoughts about it. We then sang our morning song “Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With Me” and sent the campers off to the dining hall for breakfast.
After we enjoyed our meal, we broke off into our cabin groups to take care of some camp chores. When we finished, we met our teams for the first time and did team building activities and icebreakers. After that, we played our first round of all camp Gaga Ball and then headed to the dining hall for a delicious lunch of hot dogs. After lunch we went back to the cabins for Siesta. After quiet time at Siesta, the campers took a swim evaluation, toured the camp and had some free time to get to know each other at top field. After that was done, the campers got to purchase snacks from the camp store, La Tienda. Then the swim evaluations, tours, and games picked back up. After the activities were done, we headed back to the cabins to get changed for dinner. The evening activity today was Diversity Bingo. The goal of the bingo is for the campers to learn more about each other’s backgrounds and identities in a fun way. After bingo, we dismissed the campers with a goodnight song and headed back to our cabins for lights out. What a wonderful day!
