A Fun First Full Day of Girls Camp
We started off the day by waking up in the cabins after a good night’s sleep. Some early bird campers woke up at 6 am for a morning nature walk and others slept in until it was officially time to get ready for the day. Once the early birds returned to their cabins and everyone was awake, they took showers and brushed their teeth. After everyone got dressed, we headed down to our morning circle. There we shared the quote of the day and asked the campers to share their thoughts about it. We then sang our morning song “Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With Me” and sent the campers off to the dining hall for a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and fruit.
After we enjoyed our meal, we broke off into our cabin groups to take care of some camp chores. When we finished, we met our teams for the first time and did team building activities and icebreakers. This included activities like “six minute interviews” and “Two truths and a lie”. Campers learned new things about their fellow campers and found new ways to interact. After that, we had a delicious lunch of Slop,py Terrys, chips and veggies and then went back to the cabins for Siesta. After quiet time at Siesta, the campers took a swim evaluation, toured the camp and had some free time to get to know each other at top field. After a snack break at La Tienda, we went off to a full camp pool party! After the activities were done, we headed back to the cabins to get changed for dinner. For dinner, we had chicken, mashed potatoes, and cake. The evening activity today was Diversity Bingo. The goal of the bingo is for the campers to learn more about each other’s backgrounds and identities in a fun way. After bingo, we dismissed the campers with our Goodnight Song and headed back to our cabins for lights out. Overall, it was an awesome day!
