Cultural Diversity Activities For Kids
The world is so large that it can be tough to teach children about places that exist outside of their own immediate physical world. From music, languages, and food to school, dressing and sports there is so much beauty and excitement that each country and culture brings to our world. Explore and add these fun cultural diversity activities at home.
Celebrate Holidays & Traditions
When holidays come around, make sure to acknowledge and celebrate those dates. Decorating for different cultural holiday celebrations like Christmas, Eid, Hannukkah, etc. can enhance learning experiences for young children.
Print Out A World Map Or Use A Globe
Show children where each country is located. You could even talk about how many hours it would take to fly to that country with Google Maps.
Try Authentic Food From Other Countries
This is a great opportunity for kids to explore with their tastebuds! Baking and cooking at home is a wonderful way to engage kids, but sampling cuisines from restaurants is also a great way to expand their palettes. Just be careful because some cultural foods incorporate a lot of spice!
Listen To Music From Other Countries
Exploring music from other countries can really give kids a sense of what that country is like without having to visit in person. Asking them what they think of the music and how it makes them feel can provide incredible insight.
