Soccer Saturday with the Girls
Today was another incredible day at our summer camp! The campers woke up bright and early, ready for a day filled with fun activities and new experiences. After a community gathering, everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pancakes and turkey sausages. Then, it was time for some team-building exercises.
The morning activities were both challenging and entertaining. Campers participated in unique games like “No Words,” “Leans,” and “Voiceless Roll-call.” These activities helped foster communication skills and teamwork. Afterward, different groups embarked on various adventures. Some went on a challenge hike, while others practiced meditation in nature or tried their hand at archery.
Afternoon Fun and Evening Magic
Following a hearty lunch of Miss Natasha’s chili and grilled cheese sandwiches, and a much-needed siesta, the afternoon was packed with exciting camptivities. Campers had the opportunity to try crate stacking, play pickleball, take swim lessons, or simply enjoy some lake time. However, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the all-camp soccer match, where campers faced off against counselors in an epic showdown. The sportsmanship, camaraderie, and spirit was impeccable from both teams. The showdown ended with a score of 4-2 for the campers (including an amazing hat trick from camper Viv!)
As the day wound down, everyone gathered for a delicious taco dinner. The evening brought more magic with a campfire, followed by night hikes for each cabin. The day concluded with a special treat – a movie (Shrek) under the stars, where campers snuggled into their sleeping bags for an unforgettable outdoor cinema experience.
Reflections and Growth
Today’s activities not only provided fun and excitement but also opportunities for personal growth and reflection. As we consider the quote of the day by Jia Tolentino: “Women’s speech, and the fact that we are now listening to it, has enraged men in a way that makes them determined to reestablish the longstanding hierarchy of power in America. And yet, this awful truth will not stop women from speaking,” we’re reminded of the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued.
Days like these at summer camp create lasting memories and valuable life lessons. From team-building exercises to outdoor adventures, every activity contributes to the campers’ personal development. As parents, isn’t it wonderful to know that your children are not just having fun, but also growing into confident, well-rounded individuals?
