Our Midwest overnight summer camp located near Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois offers girls-only, boys-only and blended (intentionally co-ed) sessions. We embrace and seek out challenges so that we can make the most personal growth. We encourage and support our campers (and staff) to maximize conflict resolution techniques. Steps to Rising Above
- Notice
- Slow down, step back, and figure out what you are actually feeling.
- Look at your body posture, breathing, and heart rates.
- Where are you feeling the emotion?
- Don’t judge what you are feeling.
- Stop the brain from getting involved.
- Don’t turn a feeling into an attitude.
- Slow down, step back, and figure out what you are actually feeling.
- Acknowledge
- Label it.
- Keep control of the rhetoric in your mind.
- I’m noticing “feeling X” vs. I am “feeling X”.
- Look at your feelings vs. from your feelings
- Make space
- Invite your thoughts to the table.
- Don’t fight the feeling.
- Remind yourself why you are doing this.
- Expand
- Expand your thinking to shrink the feeling.
- Turn your attention to what is happening around you.
- There is more to life than this exact moment or feeling.
