Backwards Day at Camp: A Day of Laughter and Learning
Today was a topsy-turvy adventure at camp as we celebrated Backwards Day! After waking up, our campers gathered to of course sing the “Goodnight” song, setting the tone for a day full of surprises and giggles. Breakfast was a delightful twist with chicken and waffles, usually a dinner favorite. Afterward, the campers dove into team-building exercises like “All Aboard”, “Financial Goals” and “Tarp Flip,” which challenged their problem-solving skills and cooperation.
After lunch, the afternoon was filled with exciting camptivities, including biking, pool time, and preparations for the highly anticipated Untalent Show. Meanwhile, our Social Justice Track continued to engage campers in meaningful discussions about creating positive change in the world.
Evening Fun
As the day progressed, excitement built for the evening’s main event – the Untalent Show and Dance. Before the Untalent Show and Dance, dinner was served, featuring a breakfast classic – pancakes! Campers then showcased their “untalents,” with a dance capping off the evening. The girls’ singing and laughter echoed through the camp, creating unforgettable memories.
Afterward, our morning, or should we say evening circle, also kicked off with our quote of the day from Anatole France: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.”
In conclusion, Backwards Day was a reminder that sometimes, looking at things from a different perspective can lead to new insights and a whole lot of fun. The campers learned valuable lessons about teamwork, creativity, and embracing the unexpected. As they settled into their cabins for the night, sharing life stories with their bunkmates, we couldn’t help but wonder: what frontward adventures await us tomorrow?
