Life at Camp

With our senior campers running camp, we started the day with our community gathering, then we went inside for a delicious breakfast of waffles, bacon, and eggs. Then we did our cabin chores–a record was set for camp cleanup with near perfect scores. Then we dismissed into our team. During team time, we discussed conflict resolution and did skits to portray different methods of conflict resolution. Thursday was day 5 of our second girl’s session! The day started with morning circle; teams followed after breakfast and chores, as they started the touch and trust section of team building where they learn the building blocks of how to physically support someone; later in the session the girls will have to work together to lift, pass (in a controlled manner), and spot each other as they overcome some obstacle (known in the team building world as an initiative). We did a few team activities then had a morning camptivity period of 9-square and slacklining. Then we went back to the dining hall for lunch; hot dogs. We started off Girls 2 with a potluck, a tour, and a welcome circle. After we got settled into the cabins and the parents left we had an introductory circle before going to the dining hall for dinner. We had spaghetti for dinner. After dinner we played large group games. Then we had a campfire. Then we went to the cabins, we made our cabin flags, and came up with some cabin rules, then we went to bed. Yeah! First day of Girls 1! Campers arrived early this afternoon to sunny skies. We started with a potluck. Then a welcome circle introducing campers and staff. After the welcome circle, campers moved into the cabins and said goodbye to their families. We had some quality cabin time then we had spaghetti for dinner. After dinner, we played games as a group out on top field. We finalized the day with a campfire!  

It was a lovely morning on Monday. Cool enough for a hoodie, but not cold. We started our day with our morning circle. After that, we had pancakes for breakfast. Thursday was a little different. We highlighted typical gender roles in society with Day of the Queen Bees, where females took the lead and were prioritized during the whole day. For breakfast, we had toast all the way from France, plus sausages. After that, we did our chores then dismissed into teams. Then we did a nature search and find activity.
